Your iPhone counts the baskets.
You just play.
Prop the phone up next to the hoop, calibrate in 20 seconds and shoot. Hoop Counter Cam sees every ball go through the net, keeps score, runs the clock and calls out the game – no wearables, no sensors on the rim.
Free for solo play. Pro adds multiplayer, high scores, game recording, extra cameras and the pixel display.

Short clips straight from the court.
How it works
Only the rim and the ball are tracked – no players, no cloud, nothing leaves the phone.
Place the phone
Lean it on a bag, a fence or a tripod 3–6 m from the hoop, a little to the side. Zoom in if the hoop is far away.
Calibrate
Tap the left and right edge of the rim and the bottom of the net, tap the ball once so the app learns its colour and size. Done.
Play
Every ball through the net is counted, announced (“Bucket!”) and shown on the scoreboard. Walk in front of the camera? The app pauses scoring and beeps until the hoop is visible again.

One phone is a counter. Several phones are a gym.
Connect devices over Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth – no server, no account. Each device takes a role: camera, scoreboard, watch or pixel display.
Camera phones
One per hoop. Each films its rim and sends baskets to the scoreboard. Old iPhones are perfect for this.
Scoreboard
Big score in landscape, clock, possession, undo. Start recording on any camera phone with one tap.
Apple Watch
Score and clock on your wrist. Pause, undo, reset or add points without walking to the phone.
Voice
“Bucket!”, “last minute”, 3‑2‑1 and the winner – in English or Finnish, from the scoreboard phone or a speaker.
Built for real courts
People walking by
Someone between the camera and the hoop? Scoring pauses, the app beeps, and detection resumes automatically – no phantom baskets.
Net movement check
A ball through the hoop swings the net; a ball dropping in front of it doesn’t. The app watches the net, not just the ball.
Any ball, any rim
Orange, blue or glow‑in‑the‑dark ball, black or orange rim, mini hoop on a door – tap the ball once and it’s calibrated.
Battery friendly
Only the area around the hoop is analysed, no neural network needed. Dim the screen and an hour of play costs about 15–20 %.
Game recording
Record the game to Photos with the REC button – or let every game record itself and decide at the end whether to keep it.
Private by design
No account, no analytics, no video upload. Everything happens on the phone. Devices talk directly to each other.
Free vs Pro
Solo play on one phone is free forever – free play, time limit, score limit and the Apple Watch display. Pro unlocks the rest.
- Multiplayer games with 1 or 2 hoops
- High score lists per game mode
- Game recording to Photos
- Extra camera phones in the same game
- Ulanzi pixel display on the local network
- Remote REC from the scoreboard
Add a pixel display to the court
The scoreboard phone can push the score and clock to an Ulanzi TC001 pixel clock over Wi‑Fi. Everyone on the court sees the score without looking at a phone.
FAQ
Which iPhones work?
iOS 17 or newer – iPhone XS/XR (2018) and later. Apple Watch Series 4 or newer with watchOS 10. Older phones make great camera phones.
Does it work outdoors?
Yes. Avoid pointing the camera into the sun and keep orange advertising out of the frame. Overcast weather or light from behind the camera is ideal.
Does it know who scored?
No – it tracks the rim and the ball, not players. In a one‑hoop game a basket goes to the team with possession, which switches automatically after each basket (or tap a team to change it). With two hoops each camera counts for its team.
Does it count 3‑pointers?
Not yet. Every basket is 2 points. Player and court‑line tracking is on the roadmap.
Where does the video go?
Only to the Photos app on the phone that recorded it, and only when you press REC or choose to keep an auto‑recorded game. Nothing is uploaded.
