Hoop Counter Cam (“the app”) is developed by Jani Haapaniemi. The short version: the app does not collect, store or transmit any personal data.

Camera

The app uses the camera to detect basketballs passing through the hoop. Video frames are analysed on the device in real time and discarded. Nothing is uploaded or shared. The camera image is never saved unless you explicitly start a recording.

Video recording (Pro)

When you press REC, or when you have turned on automatic game recording and choose to keep a game, the video is saved to the Photos app on your phone. The app only has “add” access to Photos: it cannot read your existing photos or videos. Recordings never leave your device through the app.

Local network

To connect several devices to one game, the app uses Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity over Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth, and optionally sends the score to a pixel display on your local network. Only game data (score, clock, basket events, device names) is exchanged, directly between your devices. No server is involved.

Apple Watch

The score is shared with the companion watch app through Apple’s Watch Connectivity framework, on your devices only.

Subscription

HoopCounter Pro is sold through Apple’s in‑app purchase system. Apple processes the payment; the app only receives a confirmation that the subscription is active. We do not see your name, email or payment details.

Data stored on the device

Settings, hoop calibration and high scores are stored locally on your phone. A diagnostic log (baskets counted, detection decisions, battery and thermal state) is written to the app’s own documents folder to help you and us tune detection; it is never sent anywhere automatically.

Analytics and tracking

None. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.

Children

The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
